Project Design for the Early American Energy  Summarize the Problem We have been tasked to make water power plow a field in any way we see fit. The use of water is being used for our power source since it was one of the 3 common power sources in the early days of America. Who Was Affected by this problem The system of plowing a field with water power adds another solution for increasing the efficiency of farming for farmers.  Solution Criteria and Constraints Our solution must use some form of water power to move an object that will plow a field. The scale model we are producing can be made out of any materials and we get an extra 10 dollars to spend on extra items that we need.

Early American Energy Analysis and Commentary Edison Moment: Edison Moment: When given the task of creating our water powered plow device we assumed several things that would be true about the supplies given to us, thus making our design around parts that would not be possible. Out first moment revolved around initially not be able to use the VEX materials resulting in me being forced to find an alternative sprocket and chain system to fit our needs. This wasted a few days of working time and put us on a different track of how to build it. When given the opportunity to use the VEX parts we were able to build it, but with not a whole lot of spare time. Another instance was when we were testing the device to see how well it worked we did not take into effect how high the water pressure we could use to push the water wheel causing us.
